Abdominal fat can be a huge bugbear when it comes to weight loss. I know that all too well considering I was cursed with an obscenely huge belly even though I had toned arms and legs before (thankfully) coming across Truth About Abs while doing some online research on abdominal fat and its causes.

The cynical part of me thought it was wishful thinking to get a flat tummy in spite of trying everything possible- crunches, fat burning pills, and even the variousxx abdominal contraptions that are sold on television- to no avail. However, since I had nothing to lose (except that stubborn-as-a mule-belly flab), I decided to give it a go.

That decision ended up being a very good one- and here’s why:

Truth About Abs is authored by established nutritionist and trainer Mike Geary, and it’s the only program that details the science of attaining the perfect belly while also explaining why many other plans have failed.

It’s important to note here that though this e-book is about achieving the perfect abs, it focuses more on building strong abs that can help you lose weight more effectively- unlike most other books that solely emphasize on ab toning.

So in that light, Truth About Abs doesn’t give too much importance to workout equipment and even performing routines like military-style crunches, which came as a huge relief to me. This may be a shocker to many, but that’s exactly why this e-book was written- to bust the many myths associated with flat abdomen.

Truth About Abs is about 150 pages long and covers everything from metabolism and efficient fat burning to getting well-built abs and eating the right foods for a perfect tummy in great detail. In fact, the diet section of Truth About Abs strongly suggests a balanced diet centered on all the core food groups, including healthy fats, complex carbs, and lean proteins, to name a few. The emphasis here is also on smaller meals consumed throughout the day that help maintain your metabolic rate and keep it going throughout.

I was very glad to know that Truth About Abs offered comprehensive meal plans with equally detailed information on when you should eat and what foods you should eat to eliminate that fat. Interestingly, Geary doesn’t talk much about calorie counting since it’s all about having the right foods- which is good since I detest calorie counting.

In its workout section, Truth About Abs goes an extra mile and truly stands apart from all other ‘get flat abs’ plans because it advocates doing exercises that challenge you metabolically. In other words, it goes against conventional suggestions that you have to perform grueling ab exercises to get a flat belly, and instead states that exercises that boost your metabolism are far more effective than lone abdomen exercises.

That said, Mike does share some flexible ab exercises- the only difference is that he endorses the inclusion of metabolism boosting workouts in one’s regime. I made it a point to incorporate his routines in my workout- and voila! I lost 2 inches off my waist in just the first 2 weeks. That impressed me!

I also found very useful that the workouts included within its pages can be performed in both a gym and at home (with or without equipment). It also discourages excessive cardio and has something to offer to both men and women.

To sum it up, Truth About Abs is a concise, easy to follow, and a very handy guide to have- particularly for people like me who want those envious abs after having tried so many things, but not achieving any results. I definitely recommend you to check it out.
